Best known for his poetry and short stories, Welsh poet Thomas wrote documentary film scrips from 1941 to 1945. Produced by Strand Films under contract with the British Ministry of Information, these were propaganda films aimed at promoting the war effort at home and presenting a cheerful picture of life after the war was won. Comprised of 23 filmscripts, collected from various sources or transcribed from the films themselves, this volume is unique. Extensive commentary accompanies each screenplay, and two commentaries on film by Thomas are included. Recommended for academic collections.?J. Sara Paulk, Satilla Regional Lib., Douglas, Ga.
